Century Village East, Deerfield Beach Announces the Groundbreaking for its New 316 Acre $7.3 million computer controlled Irrigation System
The Irrigation Committee of the CVE Master Management Company, Inc. Board of Directors has announced that they will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the village’s new 316 acre, $7.3 million computer controlled irrigation system at 1:30 PM on Monday, November 7, 2011. The committee has requested that they be joined by officials from the City of Deerfield Beach, Broward County, South Florida Water Management District, and Wells Fargo Bank in breaking ground for the new system, by assisting the committee in displacing the first shovels full of soil for the largest new construction project since the village was built in the early 1970s.
After a 2009 study of the existing obsolete irrigation system recommended replacement rather than renovation, CVE Master Management began planning for a new system. During the summer and fall of 2010 the state-of-the-art system was designed by Masuen Consulting, LLC. In the winter of 2010 and spring of 2011 financing was obtained and the project was bid by four prequalified irrigation contractors.
At the April 14, 2011, CVE Master Management Board of Directors meeting the Board awarded the construction contract to Treasure Coast Irrigation, LLC of Hobe Sound, Florida; the low bidder. The construction schedule is approximately three years and the financing is being provided by Well Fargo Bank, NA.
The irrigation system consists of three energy efficient 165 horsepower pumping stations, providing a substantial reduction in energy consumption over the 705 horsepower required by the existing system. The system is driven by a weather station constantly calculating evapotranspiration while receiving data on rainfall, wind speed, temperature, humidity, and from soil moisture sensors located throughout the one square mile village. The system is controlled by Baseline BASESTATION 600© PC based software.
The new system will allow the village to operate its irrigation in full compliance with all applicable operating permits and water conservation ordinances, while applying water only to those areas where and when it’s required, and in the minimum quantities required.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held in the lawn area directly across Century Boulevard from Swansea “A”, just beyond the main entrance to Century Village East off of Hillsboro Boulevard.
