Treasure Coast Irrigation and Rood Landscape honor their Veterans
This Veterans Day, Treasure Coast Irrigation and Rood Landscape celebrated the service and sacrifice of employees Sean Embrey, Theodore Flatt, Kenneth Smith, and Jonathan Pratt.
When the four arrived at work on November 10th, the TCI Rood staff gathered for a dedication ceremony, thanking them for their service and unveiling 4 VIP parking spots, each labeled with a “dog-tag” sign specifying their name, years of service, military branch, and classification. Tom Balling, President of TCI Rood, officiated the Veterans Day ceremony, reading a poem expressing gratitude for those serving in the military. Additionally, each veteran was given the next day, November 11th, off with pay, a small way to acknowledge their service with gratitude.
“I take great pride in honoring our veterans, who have served our country with unmatched courage and dedication. It is my hope that other community businesses will show gratitude to their employees who served in the US Military by honoring them each year with a paid day off on November 11th,” said Balling.
Jonathan Pratt, Spray Department Manager, served in the US Army as a Petty Officer Third Class from 1969-1971. Kenneth Smith, Service Technician for Treasure Coast Irrigation (TCI), and Theodore Flatt, TCI Rood Controller, both served in the US Navy as Petty Officers First Class, Smith serving from 1970-1974 and Flatt serving from 1986-1994. Sean Embrey, service technician for TCI, served as a Specialist in the US Army from 2000-2003.
